On Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Niagara Regional Police Service, the Pelham Fire Service and the Niagara Emergency Medical Service (EMS), responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and truck on Effingham Street, south of Pelham Road in the Town of Pelham, Ontario.

Investigators have determined that a Yamaha R6 motorcycle driven by a 25 year-old female from St.Catharines, Ontario, was travelling in a northbound direction down Effingham Street towards Pelham Road. The rider entered a moderate right corner and subsequently lost control, crossing into the southbound lane of Effingham Street.

At the same time, a Ford F-550 pick-up truck pulling a flat-bed trailer was travelling in a southerly direction up Effingham Street. The 29 year-old driver and his 18 year-old passenger, both from Dunnville, Ontario, were occupying the Ford.

The motorcyclist subsequently struck the front of the Ford causing her to be ejected from the Yamaha. The 25 year-old rider suffered a fatal injury in the collision. The occupants in the Ford were not injured.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit. Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Detectives at (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.
