On Saturday, October 11th, 2014, at approximately 8:38 p.m., the Niagara Regional Police Service, the St.Catharines Fire Service and the Niagara Emergency Medical Service (EMS), responded to reports of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on Niagara Street south of Agar Drive in the City of St.Catharines, Ontario.

Police say investigators have determined that a 2011 Dodge Ram pick-up truck was travelling south on Niagara Street towards Agar Drive at a high rate of speed and being driven by a 33 year-old male from Niagara Falls, Ontario, and was accompanied by his passenger, a 45 year-old female from St.Catharines. The Dodge continued south on Niagara Street and lost control while attempting to navigate a left curve.  At the same time, a 65 year-old female from St.Catharines was walking on the west shoulder of Niagara Street. The Dodge left the roadway and subsequently struck the pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge continued south across several residential lawns before striking 4 parked vehicles in a driveway on the west side of the road at which time the driver and passenger were trapped  and required extrication by the Fire Department. The driver was not injured in the collision while his passenger received moderate injuries and was treated at the St.Catharines General Hospital.

The 33 year-old driver, John Pullia was arrested at the scene for Impaired Driving Cause Death and faces numerous charges.  He was transported to the St.Catharines Police Station to conduct breath tests.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time according to Niagara Regional Police and the collision remains under investigation.
