On Sunday 2 November 2014 at 8:39 AM Niagara Regional Police and Niagara Emergency Medical Services were called to the intersection of Church Street at Calvin Street in the City of St. Catharines for a pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle.

Initial investigation revealed according to police that an 80 year old St. Catharines woman was crossing Church Street in a northbound direction when she was struck by a 2003 Chrysler motor vehicle that was west bound on Church Street. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to the St. Catharines Health Sciences General Hospital Site by ambulance and from there she was transferred to the Hamilton Health Sciences General Hospital Site by air ambulance where she remains in critical condition. The elderly Niagara Falls male driver was not injured in this collision.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit. Any witnesses with information regarding this collision are asked to contact investigators at (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.
