According to police, on Monday, November 17, 2014 at approximately 7:20 pm members of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded for a welfare check near Lake Ontario in the area of Firelane 12 ( Townline Rd ), Niagara On The Lake.

Niagara Emergency Medical Services, Canadian Coast Guard and the St Catharines Fire Department responded to assist and found a male  located in the water, that could not be resuscitated.

The SIU was contacted by the Niagara Regional Police Service and advised of the incident. The SIU, at that time, determined that they would invoke their mandate and investigate the incident.

As the investigations continues, more updates will be made.
