According to police, on Monday December 8, 2014 four males were involved in an altercation on the corner of Aqueduct Street and Niagara Street in Welland, Ontario.  Two of the males sustained injuries that required  medical treatment.  The males were  treated and released from Welland County General Hospital.  Police were notified and commenced an investigation into the incident.  On Monday December 8, 2014 members of the Welland Street Crime Unit and uniform members from both the Niagara Falls and Welland Division located the suspect’s vehicle in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Police arrested one male at a Culp Street residence in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Police then executed two Criminal Code search warrants in connection with this incident.

As a result of the investigation, Michael Bentivoglio, an 18 year old resident of Niagara Falls, Ontario is charged with Robbery (with firearm) contrary to 344(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to 92(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada, and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.  Police seized a prohibited weapon and approximately $700.00 of cocaine during this investigation.

Bentivoglio is being held in custody pending a bail hearing in St. Catharines, Ontario on Tuesday December 9, 2014.

This investigation is still under investigation by members of the Welland Street Crime Unit.
