The top 100 highest-paid CEOs in Canada now make, on average, $9.2 million—more than 190 times the average Canadian income of $47,358. With Onex CEO Gerry Schwartz (pictured below) taking the number-one spot on the list this year with a total pay package of $87.9 million, many of our CEOs are paid many times more than that.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the payment mix, which still skews heavily toward “other”—non-salary payments such as cash bonuses, share and options awards, pension contributions and other compensation.
