At approximately 1:45 AM On Sunday April 19th, 2015 Niagara Emergency Medical Services, Niagara Regional Police and St.Catharines Fire Services were dispatched for a single motor vehicle collision on Lakeshore Road north of Lakeport Road in the City of St.Catharines, in the Region of Niagara.
Police say an initial investigation revealed that a 61-year-old male resident of St.Catharines was driving a 1999 Ford motor vehicle northbound on Lakeshore Road when the motor vehicle crossed the southbound lane of traffic, mounted the curb leaving the travelled portion of the roadway, travelled onto the grass area before striking a tree on the west side of Lakeshore Road.

The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle. He was transported to the Niagara Health System St.Catharines Site where he was pronounced dead.
This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit.
