According to police, on Sunday August 23rd 2015 at approximately 1:30 pm, members of the Niagara Regional Police, Port Colborne Fire Department, and Niagara EMS were called to a Port Colborne residence for a report of a male intentionally setting fire to a detached garage. Members of the public confronted the male suspect, who responded by brandishing a knife. The suspect was subdued by the witnesses on scene, who held him until police arrived and took him into custody. Witnesses quickly put out the fire and the Fire Department attended to ensure that the fire had not spread within the garage.

 
Charged with Arson and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose is Donald TEMPLAIN (60 years old) of Port Colborne. Templain will be held in custody and is scheduled for a Bail Hearing On August 24th 2015 in the City of St. Catharines.
Due to the quick actions of the public, damage to the garage was minor and no one received any serious injuries.
