According to police, at approximately 8:30 PM on Tuesday, September 1st, 2015, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, West Lincoln Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police were dispatched for a motorcycle that had left the roadway on Smithville Road at Castor Gainsboro Townline Road in the Township of West Lincoln, in the Region of Niagara.

 

Initial investigation revealed that a 35-year-old Smithville male was riding his 1999 Suzuki GSX motorcycle north bound on Smithville Road when he lost control of his motorcycle and left the east side of the travelled portion of the roadway. Residents of this area heard the collision and called 911, they then located the motorcycle and rider in a farmer’s field. These residents assisted the motorcycle rider until emergency services personnel arrived on scene. The motorcycle rider suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to the Hamilton Health Sciences General Hospital Site by air ambulance where he remains in critical but stable condition.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit.
