The Niagara Regional Police Service’s #2 District Street Crime Unit had been investigating a rash of Break, Enter and Thefts to residences in Niagara Falls during the months of November and December.

 

According to police, investigation identified a male with the assistance of the Forensic Unit and Uniform Officers from Niagara Falls.  This resulted in warrants being issued for his arrest as his whereabouts were unknown.  Continued efforts to locate the male were on-going and resulted in his arrest on December 8th 2015 with the assistance of the Intelligence Unit and the K9 Unit.

The male, Brian Keith DUNSMOOR (47yrs), was arrested in St Catharines and held pending a Bail Hearing on December 9th 2015 in St Catharines. DUNSMOOR faces the following 25 criminal charges;

Robbery, contrary to Section 344(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
Assault Police, contrary to Section 270(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
Break/Enter and commit theft (6 counts), contrary to Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
Theft of Motor Vehicle, contrary to Section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
Flight from Peace Officer, contrary to Section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, contrary to Section 249(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 (5 counts), contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
Breach of Probation (9 counts), contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

A search warrant was also executed at a St Catharines apartment which resulted in additional evidence being located.  It is anticipated that DUNSMOOR will face additional Criminal Charges resulting from his crime spree after a continued investigation.
