Police say, on Friday January 15th 2016 at approximately 9:50am, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Grapeview Drive in the city of St. Catharines in response to a break and enter that just occurred. Upon arrival, a male suspect was observed walking on Stoney Brook Crescent but ran at the first sight of police.

 

Police pursued the male through the backyards of nearby residences before finally being taken into custody on Sarah Court. During the course of the arrest, the male fought with police resulting in one officer being transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Charged with break and enter with intent to commit, assault with a weapon, assault police with the intent to resist arrest and fail to comply with a recognizance is 23 year old Brandon Thomas of St. Catharines. Thomas will be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigators are urging anyone who observed a suspicious male in the area of Grapeview Drive sometime prior to 9:50am to contact the 1 District Detective Office at 905-688-4111 ext. 4244.
