On Saturday May 7th 2016, Niagara Regional Police responded to a grocery store in the City of Welland for a report of a male suspected of shoplifting.

 

Police say upon their arrival, it was reported that store employees attempted to stop the suspect as he was leaving the store with stolen items. The suspect then used a bicycle to assault one of the employees and escape. The suspect was located a short distance away by Police and arrested for Robbery as he is alleged to have used violence to overcome resitance relating to the theft.

As the bicycle was also reported to be stolen, the suspect was also charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

The suspect has been identified as 31 year old Arron DOUCETTE of Welland. Doucette will be held in custody and is scheduled for a Bail Hearing on Sunday May 8th 2016.
