Police say on Monday, June 27th, 2016 at approximately 6:15 p.m. the Niagara Regional Police Service, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services and the Grimsby Fire Services responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Mountain Road south of Elm Tree Road in the Town of Grimsby, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ontario.

 

Initial investigation revealed that a 1995 Buick motor vehicle was being operated southbound on Mountain Road when the Buick veered west off the roadway, into a drainage ditch where it came into collision with a hydro pole and then a culvert where it came to final rest.

Witnesses stopped and assisted the single male occupant of the vehicle and called 911. The 29 year old St Catharines driver had to be extricated from the vehicle before being transported by ambulance to a Hamilton Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.
