Shortly after noon on Monday, July 25, 2016 members of the Niagara Regional Police Service #1 District say they responded to an area between the train tracks and the Welland Canals Trail near the intersection of Ormond Street South and Lyndon Street East in Thorold.

 

Police were alerted to the discovery of a human body in a grassy clearing near the tracks. The investigation is being conducted by members of the #1 District Detective Office with assistance from the Forensic Services Unit and the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Investigation determined that the deceased was a male resident of Thorold. The area was secured following a preliminary analysis of the scene, pending a post mortem examination, which was conducted on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Foul play is not suspected.
