Police say, on Monday, August 15, 2016, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, Casino Unit responded to Clifton Hill in the City of Niagara Falls for a male passing off a counterfeit U.S. $50 dollar bill.

 

The lone suspect was located by Police and subsequently arrested.  Upon arrest police found the accused to be in possession of several other counterfeit U.S. $50 bills. Several hours later, the Niagara Regional Police Service, Casino Unit responded to a second complaint of a male and female passing off a counterfeit U.S. $50 dollar bill in the City of Niagara Falls.

Upon police arrival the female was arrested, but the male fled from Police.  After a brief foot pursuit, the male was arrested by police without further incident.

An investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service’s Central Fraud Unit revealed that several businesses in the City of Niagara Falls had been targeted with the use of the counterfeit U.S. $50 dollar bills over the course of the day.

Charged with Possession of Counterfeit Money and Uttering Counterfeit Money is 19 year old Gavin HEIDMAN of Toronto.

Charged with Possession of Counterfeit Money and 5 counts of Uttering Counterfeit Money is 21 year old Deshawn HOLMES of Toronto.

Charged with Possession of Counterfeit Money and 5 counts of Uttering Counterfeit Money is 18 year old Olivia URBANIAK of Toronto.

HEIDMAN, HOLMES and URBANIAK were all held in custody pending a bail hearing.
