Police say that on Sunday September 25, 2016 shortly after 2:30 a.m. members of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to the area of Hemlock Street and Hazel Street in The City of St.Catharines for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a motor vehicle that failed to remain at the scene.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a disturbance had taken place between a number of individuals in the area just prior to the collision and as the group was leaving, a vehicle turned onto Hemlock Street and struck a male party.  The driver of the vehicle  made no effort to stop and subsequently fled the scene.

The male victim was transported to the Niagara Health System – St.Catharines Site where he underwent surgery for his injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

Detectives with the St.Catharines Detective Office have taken over this investigation and have conducted multiple witness interviews.  As a result of these interviews, Detectives have managed to obtain a description of the suspect vehicle in this incident which is described as follows:

A Dark Blue or Black Ford F150 approximately 8-10 years old.

Detectives are asking that Collision Repair Shops and Automotive Part Suppliers contact police should they be approached by an individual seeking repair and/or parts for a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description with damage consistent with having been involved in a motor vehicle collision.

Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Shaun Parrent at 905-688-4111 Extension 4455.
