On Sunday, December 18th, 2016, at approximately 6:21 a.m., members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, Niagara Emergency Medical Service and the St.Catharines Fire Service responded to reports of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on Canal Street near Simcoe Street in Port Dalhousie, within the City of St.Catharines, Ontario.

 

Police say that investigators have determined that a 35 year-old male pedestrian from St.Catharines, was on the roadway near the east shoulder of Canal Street while a 67 year-old female, was operating a 2014 Kia Sportage northbound on Canal Street towards Simcoe Street.

The Kia hit the man and as a result he received serious injuries and was transported to the St.Catharines General Hospital. He was later flown to the Hamilton General Hospital by air-ambulance where he remains in serious, yet stable condition.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit.Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact detectives at (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.
