On Saturday January 14, 2017, police were called to a residence in The City of St. Catharines in response to a drug related call for service.

Upon arrival, police say officers were met by the caller who said when they opened a fresh (sealed) container of ice cream and started to dish it out, they found eight pills mixed within the ice cream.

The Ice Cream involved in this incident is: Iceberg Brand Ice Cream – French Vanilla (1.65 litre container), the front of the container contained the numbers 16279 08:55, the UPC Code on the side of the container contained the numbers  7 7427611724 2.

The complainant advised police that the ice cream was either purchased from The Food Basics Store located at 275 Geneva Street or The Freshco Store located at 286 Bunting Road, in The City of St. Catharines.

In examining the pills, officers discovered them to be 400 mg Advil Gel Capsules.  The complainant advised officers that no members of the family had consumed any of the capsules.

Officers examined the remainder of the ice cream and did not locate any additional capsules. Detectives with the One District Detective Office are investigating this incident and have notified the manufacturer.
