WOW! It’s been 40 years now that Heart Niagara has been delivering community-based health services, public education and health promotion to Niagara’s 12 municipalities.  That’s 40 years of educating, saving lives and bringing awareness to heart health…amazing!

To celebrate and showcase their huge achievements, Heart Niagara celebrated with a “SPLASH OF RED” open house at their new location at 4635B Queen Street in downtown Niagara Falls last night and folks got to check out their headquarters first hand!  Below, enjoying some of the snacks and a grand tour of the impressive facility!

How many folks use Heart Niagara’s services? In 2016, they saw over 20,000 people in Niagara through the Healthy Heart Schools’ Program, community preparedness, diagnostic services, smoke cessation, corporate wellness initiatives and HeartCORE (Heart Niagara’s state -of-the-art exercise circuit). Check out some of their equipment on site below!

Another great offering at the Splash of Red event was Heart Niagara’s new 40th Anniversary cookbook titled, The Heart of Your Community which features lots of local recipes that were contributed which all promote heart healthy eating options.   Below, some of the staff of Heart Niagara gather in the on-site kitchen where lots of healthy eating options are made.

Overall,  a great celebration that drew in a large crowd to see the behind the scenes action of an organization that does so much good work in our community.  Heart Niagara’s executive director, Karen Stearne said it was also a night to look back, celebrate today, and build tomorrow.
