At the end of March, members of the Welland Street Crime Unit began an investigation into a Welland drug trafficker.  Police say the investigation led to Port Colborne where it became evident that items were being stolen from a business and the stolen property was being exchanged for drugs.

 

On April 13, three persons were arrested in relation to this incident.  Police also obtained and executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on a Welland residence.   Forty six bags of prepackaged cocaine weighing a total of 22.5 grams were seized.  In addition to the cocaine, police located and seized trafficking indicators and currency.  Also aproximately $200 in stolen property was recovered.

Charges have been laid on one of the individuals in relation to the theft.  The theft investigation is ongoing and further arrests are imminent.

Randy Weaver, a 54 year old Welland resident is charged with:
– Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
– Theft Under $5,000

Tim Rodgers, a 54 year old Welland resident in charged with:
– Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Felicia Christian, a 31 year old Welland resident is charged with:
– Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

All three were held pending a bail hearing scheduled for April 14, 2017.
