Last night at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Niagara Regional Police Service and Niagara Emergency Medical Service responded to reports of an injured cyclist on East-West Line near Concession 2 Road in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

 

Upon arrival, police say they found  a 48-year-old cyclist from Niagara-on-the-Lake who had been struck by an unknown vehicle travelling westbound on East-West Line. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene of the collision, leaving the injured cyclist to make his way to a nearby residence to call for assistance.  He was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle is silver in colour and has been identified as a either a 2005 2010 model year Chevrolet Cobalt similar to below:

or a 2005 2009 Pontiac Pursuit, silver in colour, similar to below:

The suspect vehicle sustained damage to the right front corner.  The right front bumper will be cracked and missing a piece of the plastic molding.  Additionally, the right passenger side mirror will be missing.  The right side mirror housing is black in colour.

Any automotive repair shops having completed repairs to a vehicle matching this damage profile within the two past weeks OR currently repairing a similar vehicle at this time are urged to contact police immediately.

This collision remains under investigation by officers from #2 District Uniform Patrol ‘B’ Platoon.
