A 27 year old Wainfleet woman is facing impaired driving charges following an ATV roll-over.

 

At approximately 4:30pm on Sunday, police say the female driver was operating an ATV with her two young children in the area of Deeks Road South and Forks Road in Welland when she lost control of the ATV and rolled into a ditch.

Both children were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.

It was initially believed one child had sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an out of town hospital for treatment.  The injuries were later determined to be non-life threatening.  The second child involved in the collision was not seriously hurt.

The 27 year old female is facing the alleged charges of:

– Impaired Operation Cause Bodily Harm
– Over 80mgs Cause Bodily Harm
– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Cause Bodily Harm

The accused was released with an OIC Promise to Appear at a future court date of June 15, 2018 at the Welland Courthouse.

The identity of the female is not being released in order to protect the identities of the young persons involved.
