Life at the Niagara Falls Humane Society and Welland SPCA is busy as we enter 2020 and I can’t help but think: imagine a world where no animal is left alone, unwanted or mistreated? (Main picture is handsome Walker who has been waiting a long time for a home!  He gets along great with other animals. For more information go HERE).

We do. And we don’t just imagine, we work toward that goal every single day within our communities and beyond.

If you are considering pet adoption, we hope you will consider adopting a shelter pet. We have a detailed screening process for adoptions, which enables us to place each pet in a safe, loving home where they can successfully join a family. The adoption fee for dogs is $400 which includes spay or neuter, microchip, first booster shot including rabies vaccination, a two week trial period, Heartworm & Lyme disease test and 6 weeks of pet insurance. The fee for cats and kittens is $150, which includes spay or neuter, microchip, first booster shot including rabies vaccination, a two week trial period and 6 weeks of pet insurance.

Visit our shelters in Welland, Port Colborne and Niagara Falls. We encourage you to spend time with any animal you are interested in. Only then can you make an informed decision. We also have a Cat Adoption Centre at the Seaway Mall near Center Court, come and visit the cats and volunteers anytime-we are open during mall hours.

Did you know that many pet stores support us by showcasing shelter cats for adoption? Paulmac’s in Niagara Falls has our cats, and Petsmart in Niagara Falls and on YMCA Dr. in St. Catharines does too. PetValu stores on Vansickle Rd in St. Catharines, and in Dunnville, Port Colborne, Virgil and Niagara Falls also host our kitties. Maggie’s Pet Boutique in Beamsville also has cats for adoption. We are very grateful to all these pet store owners for their support. To add to our services, we have our Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic serving the Niagara Region and beyond. Call 289-820-9651 to schedule your appointment today!

Follow our websites, www.nfhs.ca and www.wellandspca.com, and find our facebook pages too. Get involved with the animals through adoption, donation, volunteering or by attending events.

More about Walker our featured dog: He is a great dog. He is a hound mix, about 5 years old. He seems to have a calming effect on people and other dogs. He enjoys other animals and people, and has a gentle, mature demeanour. Walker has been with us since October, so he’s very ready for a forever family. We are sure he would love a forever home where he has a doggy friend, and lots of exercise and playtime. He loves to be outdoors and will walk with you for hours. We notice when he walks outside the dog park here at the shelter, all the other dogs are friendly toward him, and he’s relaxed with them.
Together we can better the lives of all the homeless animals in our community. Get involved!
