Details have just been released by the CRA for Canadians who want to apply for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit.
If you stopped working because of COVID-19, the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) may provide you with temporary income support. The CERB provides $500 a week for up to 16 weeks.
Starting Monday, April 6, the application process will begin but to limit the large amount of people applying at once the government has set out the following guidelines to streamline the process which is based on your date of birth.
Whether you apply online or by phone, the CRA says it wants to provide the best service possible to everyone. To help manage this, the CRA has set up specific days for you to apply and is asking everyone to please use the following guidelines:

|January, February or March||Mondays||April 6|
|April, May, or June||Tuesdays||April 7|
|July, August, or September||Wednesdays||April 8|
|October, November, or December||Thursdays||April 9|
|Any month||Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays|
NOTE: If you applied for EI on or after March 15th, your claim will be automatically processed through the CERB.
