Canada Day is tomorrow July 1st and although it will be a virtual celebration, there is lots going on to commemorate our  amazing country!

 

Canada Day celebrates the birthday of Canada.  It was July 1, 1867 Canada became a new federation with its own constitution by signing the Constitution Act – formerly known as the British North America Act.

Here is a rundown of things happening tomorrow to enjoy.

Canada the Niagara Way

On Wednesday, July 1 communities from across the Niagara region are coming together for a Canada Day first – Canada Day, the Niagara Way! The municipalities along with the Niagara Parks Commission and the Niagara Region will celebrate Canada’s birthday online with performances by Tim Hicks, Avenue Inn, Great Lake Swimmers, Spencer Burton, Juliett Dunn & Peter Shea, and Rick McLean.  Visit each municipality’s website for a schedule of different performances, contests and activities. St. Catharines

Online celebrations kick off at 10 a.m. on July 1 and will be held as a Watch Party on the City of St. Catharines Facebook page. Simply go to facebook.com/cityofstcatharines/ to join the fun!

Niagara Falls

The new online virtual celebration production includes buskers, guest host Matt Anthony, a magician, community leaders, plus musical performances by Honeymoon Suite, LMT Connection, and deadmau5 for everyone to enjoy.

Welland

Things kick off early for the Welland Canada Day celebrations at 8 am and can be viewed on the City’s website HERE as well as the Recreation and Culture Facebook page for fun activities, artistic performances and more.

Fort Erie

Fort Erie is participating in a Virtual Canada Day Celebration which will feature events throughout the day. Tune into the celebration at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 1, at: www.facebook.com/FortErie/.

Niagara on the Lake

The online festivities begin at 11 a.m. on Facebook Watch. Visit the Town’s Facebook Page for event details.

Virtual Canada Day Celebrations with the Government of Canada

On July 1, 2020, unite virtually from coast to coast and share your national pride with the Government of Canada’s Virtual Canada Day Celebrations.

The Government of Canada has some great Canada Day Activities planned for the residents of Canada! They will be hosting two virtual Canada Day shows that will include artistic performances, messages from heads of state, and more! The Canada Day Celebrations will be concluded with a 10:00 p.m. virtual firework show. Click here for information on how to access the shows on July 1.

Daytime Virtual Show: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Evening Virtual Show: 8:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m.
