Niagara Region Public Health advised the DSBN that an individual at Grimsby Secondary School has tested positive for a case of COVID-19.
For privacy reasons, the identity of the individual cannot be shared.
Following protocol, students and staff who had close contact with the individual have been informed and told to stay home and self-isolate.
Custodians will complete a thorough cleaning of the school this evening. A Public Health Inspector and a Public Health Nurse from NRPH will visit the school to complete a comprehensive assessment. The preventative COVID-19 practices that Grimsby Secondary School has been following since the beginning of school, such as wearing PPE, physical distancing, hand hygiene, and doing daily health screening, will continue.
Grimsby Secondary and the DSBN will continue to work collaboratively with Niagara Region Public Health to ensure the school meets all the health and safety protocols required.
If community members have questions about COVID-19, they are welcome to call Niagara Region Public Health’s COVID-19 Info-Line for assistance from a Public Health Nurse, which is staffed Monday to Friday, 9:15 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. at 905-688-8248 or toll-free at 1-888-505-6074.
