A man has been arrested after a collision and stabbing incident that happened yesterday in St. Catharines.

 

On Thursday, June 17, 2021, at approximately 7:35pm, police say they were called to the area of Ontario Street and Scott Street, for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle and a subsequent stabbing.

Investigation revealed that a 45 year old male and his 6 year old son were walking Eastbound in the crosswalk at the intersection of Scott Street West and Ontario Street when the two were struck by a 2009 Black Toyota pickup truck.

The driver of the truck, a 32 year old male exited the driver’s seat and approached the father and his son. As the driver approached them, an altercation ensued and the driver was then stabbed. The driver, walked away from the father and approached witnesses where he sought first aid attention.

As a result of the incident, the 6 year old boy and father suffered minor physical injuries.

The 32 year old male was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Ryan Garrett (45 years old) of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place today.
