Members of the Special Enforcement Unit conducted RIDE spot checks again Saturday night around the downtown core of St. Catharines. Officers set up on St. Paul street and had the opportunity to speak to close to 150 drivers leaving and coming into the downtown area.

Within the first hour of the RIDE initiative 3 drivers were arrested for Impaired Driving and several Provincial Offence Notices were issued for various traffic and license offences.

Officers then went mobile in the area where SEU and Patrol officers arrested another 2 drivers for Impaired Operation.

Police would like to thank the citizens of Niagara for their cooperation and support during the RIDE initiative and for utilizing the local transit and taxi cab companies to safely get home after a night out.
