According to police, since November 1st, 2014 they have been investigating several thefts of rims and tires from local car dealerships located in St. Catharines and Welland and on November 10th, 2014 members of the St Catharines Street Crime Unit made arrangements with the accused to meet and purchase property they believed was stolen.

At approximately 2:00 PM the accused attended a location in Thorold, where he was in possession of stolen property. The accused was arrested at that time. A search warrant was subsequently obtained for a Thorold address, where Police located a large quantity of stolen property and drugs. As a result of this investigation members of the St Catharines Street Crime Unit recovered 20 stolen rims and tires, and  3 tailgates from high-end Ford pick up trucks. The value of the property recovered is approximately $30,000.00. During the search Police also located and seized a large quantity of cocaine, marijuana, and cash.

Charged with 3 counts of Possession of Stolen Property, 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, 1 count of Possession of Proceeds of Crime, 1 count of Drive Disqualified, and 2 counts of Breaching a Release order, is 31 -year-old Trevor Herdman of Thorold. Herdman will be attending a bail hearing on November 11th, 2014 at the St. Catharines court house.

 

In total Police seized $30,000.00 in stolen property, $3,000.00 in cocaine, $5,140.00  in marihuana and $3,000.00 in cash.
