According to police, during the afternoon hours of November 16, 2014, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a weapons call in the city of Welland after information had been received of a firearms discharge within a residence.

Upon arrival police arrested an adult male for Careless Use of a Firearm without incident. Further investigation revealed this to be a domestic related incident . The adult male was further charged with one count of Assault and two counts of Uttering Threats.

The identity of the accused is not being released to as not to identify the victim in this matter and was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing November 17, 2014, at 59 Church St. in the city of St. Catharines.
