The cleanup of a  crash today that saw a transport and fuel spill on the Red Hill Creek Expressway about 8:15 this morning will continue into the evening rush hour.

Police say the transport truck was carrying two scissor lifts and collided with a small sedan on the Red Hill Valley Parkway, underneath the Barton Street overpass when the sedan lost control on an on-ramp, went over the curb of the ramp and then ended up in oncoming traffic.

The transport truck driver swerved to avoid hitting the car straight on, and ended up going through a guardrail and flipping into the creek.

The woman driving the sedan had minor injuries and the truck driver was uninjured.

The Ministry of Environment has been called in to assist with cleanup. Charges are pending.

The southbound lanes of the Red Hill expressway are closed at the Barton Street overpass, and drivers are advised to not use the RHVP. Ontario Provincial Police have also closed down the Fort Erie-bound ramps to and from the Red Hill for an indefinite amount of time.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes
