According to police, in the early summer of 2015 the Niagara Regional Police Service began to receive information detailing the activities of a male suspected of dealing in drugs in the area of Dain City in Welland, Ontario.

 

On July 23, 2015 members of the Welland Street Crime Unit, along with assistance from the Welland Detective Office and the St. Catharines Street Crime Unit arrested two males involved in a drug transaction.

Eric Silvestri,  a 27 year old resident of Welland Ontario was arrested and has been charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00.   Silvestri is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday July 24, 2015.

Spencer Lachapelle, a 28 year old resident of St. Catharines, Ontario, has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Lachapelle was released on an Officer in Charge Promise to Appear and given a future court date.

As a result of this investigation police seized approximately $550.00 in suspected heroin and $405.00 in Canadian currency.
