In this video President and CEO of Horizon Utilities, Max Cananzi speaks up about a proposed merger between Horizon Utilities and three other providers from the Toronto-Hamilton area .

 

The proposed merger involves four of Ontario’s local electricity distribution companies: Horizon Utilities Corporation, Enersource, Hydro One Brampton, and PowerStream.

The Horizon website states that: “The purpose of this new partnership would be to use its collective resources – serving almost a million customers in Hamilton and St. Catharines as well as Peel Region, York Region and Simcoe County – to continue delivering low rates, efficient services and innovative technologies for its customers.”

St. Catharines City Council will meet on Monday to receive and consider a recommendation from St. Catharines Hydro Inc. and Horizon Utilities Corporation regarding the proposed merger with Enersource and PowerStream, and the acquisition of Hydro One Brampton.

Council will consider the proposal at its Tuesday, Oct. 20 meeting and members of the public wishing to speak at the Oct. 20 meeting can make a request by contacting the City Clerk at 905.688.5601 ext. 1507 or clerks@stcatharines.ca
