Police say, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at approximately 5:00AM police were on general patrol in the area of St. Paul Street and Geneva Street in the City of St. Catharines.  At this time, a male was observed incoherent behind the wheel of his car. A traffic stop was initiated but the vehicle failed to stop for police. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle was stopped and the male driver was arrested.

 

A search incident to the males arrest revealed a substantial amount of drugs, two prohibited weapons, and $2000 in cash.

Shane MARKO, 34 years, of Wainfleet, was charged with the following offences:

Flight While Pursued by Police Officer
Trafficking- Schedule I Substance – Crystal Methamphetamine
Trafficking- Schedule I Substance Oxycodone
Trafficking- Schedule I Substance MDMA
Trafficking- Schedule I Substance Morphine
Trafficking- Schedule II Substance Marijuana
Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (2 Counts)
Fail to Comply with Recognizance (3 Counts)

The total street value of drugs seized are estimated at $12,000

MARKO was held for a bail hearing later that same day.
