The Niagara Regional Police Service 2 District Street Crime Unit is actively investigating multiple incidents of graffiti in the Niagara on the Lake area and say the following incidents have been reported between March 22, 2016 and April 22, 2016:

 

March 22, 2016 approximately 12:15 pm, Butlers Burial ground, 601 Butler St NOTL A young male was observed by a cyclist spraying the bike path near Butlers Burial Ground. The male was described white, 17-19 years, thin build, wearing all black clothing, black hooded sweater and a black scarf to conceal his face. The male left the area on a bicycle.

March 26-27, 2016 overnight, area of Bay Berry Lane NOTL – A new residential 6 foot wooden fence was spray painted with large bubble letters using black and silver/white paint.

March 31, 2016, Fort of Mississauga, 223 Queen St NOTL Police received a report of graffiti located throughout the Fort that occurred sometime over the month of March. Several historic areas within the Fort had been spray painted.

March 31, 2016, Butlers Barracks building, 440 King St NOTL Police received a report that the vacant Butlers Barracks building was entered sometime over the month of March.

April 6, 2016, 551 Butler St NOTL Police received a report that the abandoned residence was the target of graffiti using black and white paint.

April 13, 2016, Victoria Ave NOTL Unknown person(s) graffiti’d a store sign using red paint.

April 14, 2016, Virgil Sports Park, 1565 Four Mile Creek Rd NOTL – Police attended the Virgil Sports Park for an overnight graffiti incident.  The pavilion area and a park bench were spray painted with graffiti. Within the open air pavilion, the wall between the public washrooms was sprayed in white paint. The graffiti was 6 ft by 12 ft and appeared to spell the word “ACID”.  A table was sprayed with “SLAUGHTAH”, “ORPHANS” and the name “DYLAN” in black paint. On a park bench by the soccer field, several other words were sprayed in purple paint.

April 14/15, 2016, overnight, 766 York Rd NOTL Police attended JR Custom Kitchens at 766 York Rd NOTL. A work truck and building had been spray painted overnight in black paint with the word “GOSH”.

April 21/22, 2016, overnight, Simcoe Park, 5 Picton St NOTL The washroom at Simcoe Park was spray painted with two illegible symbols in white and black paint.

April 21/22, 2016, overnight, three (3) Queen St locations Several buildings were spray painted with bubble letters with a crown on top using white paint.

The NRPS requests that members of the public report any information related to these incidents to 2 District Street Crime by calling 905-688-4111 ext 2200.

The public is reminded to report all suspicious activity or persons in the Niagara on the Lake area to 905-688-4111 “dispatch”.
