It’s amazing to see what can happen when a community comes together to support something they believe in.  Last Sunday morning marked another successful running of the 8th annual running of Evan’s Ride for Autism. To understand why Evan’s Ride is so inspiring, you have to learn a little more about Evan Sheldrake.

When Evan was two he was diagnosed with sever autism. Len his father was told that even would never be able to speak or learn any complex tasks …like riding a bike. Today as Evan jumped on his bike to mark the 8th annual event that raises funds that are donated to autism community.

The ride featured many participants from across Niagara looking to get involved. Participants young and old took to the 11 or 22-kilometre cycling route through the scenic roads of Smithville. Once everyone had completed the route lunch was served and prizes were handed out. Len announced that this year’s totals were over $13 000, adding to the 8 year total that has now reached over $ 100 000!

Another well attended event with celebrity hosts Chris Biggs and Jason Barr from 97.7 morning show Biggs and Barr. The mayor and long-time supporter of the event Douglas Joyner was quick to point out that this event would not be possible without the support of the community and the rides 25+ corporate sponsors.
