At about 4:35 p.m. on Monday, November 7th, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, St.Catharines Fire Department and the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Eastchester Avenue and Grantham Avenue South in St.Catharines.

 
Police say that initial investigation revealed that a 31-year-old female resident of St.Catharines was walking within the pedestrian crosswalk and crossing Eastchester Avenue when she was hit by a westbound 2007 Pontiac Torrent motor vehicle. This female was transported to a local hospital and then to an out of town hospital due to her critical condition.  The 59-year-old female driver of the Pontiac did not suffer any injuries in this collision.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit and any witnesses with information regarding this collision are asked to contact investigators at (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.
