If you are thinking of adding a pet to your family, please visit one of our shelters. (main picture is 2 year old Buddy, a wonderful Beagle looking for a home.  For information on him go HERE).

Prepare to have your heart tugged, though, we have a lot of cuties. Adoption is a big decision and we take it very seriously. Our procedures are in place to ensure a well thought out decision and a good match.

In Niagara Falls, I keep seeing Bella and Hope out for a walk. Volunteer Lorna says, “Bella & Hope are LOVELY and deserve a loving home to relax and spend their golden years . They walk great on a leash, love to be loved & brushed & roll in the grass. They do their potties outside . There must be someone out there that can give these ladies an amazing home!”

Bella and Hope came to us when their owner passed away. They are big girls, German shepherd mixes. They were rescued from Florida when the no kill shelter ran out of space. They are both 7+ and have always been together. They know some commands, and play independently with chewy and stuffed toys. They are able to be left alone without being crated. They haven’t had any experience with children, but are very friendly to adults. They previously lived with seniors, and are friendly with other dogs but are not experienced with cats-it is noted that they will chase cats or small animals when they are on leash.

Have you ever seen what a litter of kittens or a bored dog can do to a blanket? We’re looking to replace our existing washer and dryer at the Welland shelter with industrial grade equipment to handle the relentless barrage of laundry. Would you like to help? Donate to “Operation Spin Cycle”, there is a Canada Helps link on the website.

September 29, we will be hosting Bow Wow and Chow, an outdoor family event held at the Greg Frewin Theatre. We will be doing pet adoptions, and there will be music, vendors, kids activities, food and more. We hope to see you there.

Mark your calendars for Gala 2019 on November 2. With a medieval theme, it’s going to be an amazing evening. We have a lot of fun planned for you, and some surprises! Early bird tickets are available now.

Below, lovely Kash is still waiting hopefully for a new home.  Could it be yours?  For more information visit the link HERE.

Remember, the Niagara SPCA continues to have five Animal Control Officers out in the community. They will be attending all calls for help and enforcing bylaws and Provisions of Needs concerns as per the bylaws. When one of our officers attends a call that now falls under provincial legislation, they will now notify the Solicitor General and will then act in a support role offering their assistance and expertise where needed. Animal cruelty investigations can now be referred to the ministry’s new line for concerns at 1-833-9ANIMAL.

Contact me if you’d like to get involved in helping the animals, or if you have any questions.
