New COVID-19 restrictions are likely to be announced this afternoon for Ontario by Premier Doug Ford as case counts and hospitalizations continue to rise.
Some of the measures reported to be considered for further restrictions include: religious services, limits on non-essential manufacturing and warehousing, shutting down construction to just critical infrastructure projects, as well as a provincewide curfew. Ontario is also reportedly considering fining business owners for non-essential staff being asked to physically go into work.
The premier will make the announcement at Queen’s Park with Health Minister Christine Elliott, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, Minister of Labour Monte McNaughton and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams live at 2:30 pm today.
