Another postal strike could soon be around the corner for Canada Post workers.
Negotiations between the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and Canada Post continue. The previous strike ended in December 2024 when the Canada Industrial Relations Board ordered workers back to work, extending their collective agreements until May 22, 2025.
With that deadline approaching, both sides are back at the bargaining table. A federal commission investigating Canada Post’s financial struggles will release its findings on May 15, which could influence negotiations.
Canada Post has been facing financial difficulties due to declining letter mail volumes and increasing parcel delivery demands, creating pressure on the postal service to adapt while maintaining fair labor conditions. If no agreement is reached by May 22, postal workers could strike again, potentially disrupting mail services across Canada.
