It has just been announced today that teachers will go on strike in all four teacher’s unions in Ontario and all schools across the province will be closed Friday February 21st.
Almost 200,000 teachers and education workers will strike across 72 school boards, affecting nearly 5,000 schools across the province in protest of the government funding cuts to education.
The Elementary Teacher’s Federation of Ontario issued the following statement.
The union leaders made the announcement in Toronto today where Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s education minister is set to speak at the Royal York hotel.
Meanwhile, outside the hotel, teachers are flooding the sidewalks and calling for Lecce to be fired.
