Jazz is a Black Mouth Cur from Louisiana, she came to Canada to be adopted on June 13th with about 100 other dogs with the BARK initiative…that is until she escaped!

Shortly after bolting she was found settled around the bush at Brock but then something happened that caused her to leave Brock via the Bruce Trail, cut across a Farmer’s Field running along Merrittville Hwy and up across Shorthills to come out at the New Fire Station in Pelham.  Once there, it was a zip across to get to High Ground where she settled in.

She was sighted many times, finally, at the Cemetery in Fonthill and due to the diligent persistence of rescuers (and some hot dog and balony treats) she was recovered July 22.  But the story doesn’t end there!

After being placed in a foster home, tests were done on her only to find she was positive for heartworm.  This is not a death sentence for her but, it is going to be a huge financial burden upon the family that is fostering her at the moment so in an effort to help Jazz and her support system right now a BBQ is being held tomorrow (Aug 1) at Pet Valu in St. Catharines to collect much needed funds for her treatment.

If you can’t make the event and would still like to help donations are being gratefully accepted and Jazz’s rescuers are asking people to go to the Veterinarian Clinic and make a Donation to Jazz’s Medical Bills. Its going to be at least one to two years of treatments and her system has to be built up before she can take it with antibiotics and steroids first.

If you can help…. No amount is too small to contribute and it goes straight to the Veterinarian Clinic. You can donate by Cash, Cheque (via mail as well for Cheques) or Credit Card in person only.
