According to police, in 2016 members of the Welland Street Crime Unit began an investigation into the allegations of a Welland male selling cocaine shortly after being released from custody.   This alleged drug trafficking operation was occurring in a quiet west end apartment building, causing distress to innocent citizens living there. On March 24th, 2016 a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at this residence.

 

As a result of this investigation, Randy Weaver, a 53 year old resident of Welland, Ontario is charged with:

-Possession of a schedule I substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2)
-Produce a schedule I substance; cocaine – CDSA sec. 7(1)
-Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime – C.C. sec. 355(b)
-Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – C.C. sec.88(1)
-Fail to comply with probation order – C.C. sec. 733.1(1)

A second Welland resident; 25 year old Tyler Galway was charged with possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking.  Both parties will be held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday March 25th, 2016.
As a result of this investigation police seized approximately $1500 in suspected cocaine and $400 in Canadian Currency.
