On Wednesday January 24, 2017, a concerned member of the public contacted the Niagara Regional Police Service with regard to suspected criminal activity at a Niagara Falls hotel.
Members of the Special Investigative Services-Morality Unit initiated an investigation into the matter. The Morality Unit conducted an under cover operation and police say were able to identify a male that was facilitating the sexual exploitation of a 20 year old female at the hotel.
On January 24, 2017, police arrested Andre Davis, 23 years of Brampton. Davis was alleged to have committed the offences of:
Failing to Comply with a Recognizance (4 Counts)
Breach of a Probation Order
Davis is presently on bail in Toronto where he is facing additional human trafficking related allegations with the same victim as this matter. The investigation into this matter is on going and police anticipate further charges to be laid against Davis.Davis appeared in St. Catharines bail court on January 25, 2017.
Police would like to thank the members of the public for their assistance and encourage residents, business owners and sex trade workers with information or concerns related to potential Human Trafficking to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service Morality Unit. The information provided will be used to assist victims of human trafficking and assist in pursuing offenders.
