Thorold native Elise Gasbarrino underwent treatment for ovarian cancer during her final year of university  and felt as a young woman the social support network with other women going through cancer was not available so she started the Pink Pearl Foundation.

Pink Pearl is a not-for-profit organization that brings together young women who have been affected by cancer through a network of peer-support and innovative programs.

Check out this great story of inspiration and courage from a young local woman that had all the odds tossed her way but came out not only a survivor, but a person that paved the way to make a better world for those after her.

ALSO: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. Please consider contributing to the cause!

In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month,’s contributor and Metamorfose Clothing creator Tanya Westerhof  is asking for your help! Up until October 10th pre-orders for the FIERCE shirt are being taken. When you purchase one for $25.00 (includes shipping) for yourself, Metamorfose Clothing will then donate one shirt on your behalf to the Pink Pearl Foundation. This shirt will go to a young cancer survivor/or currently in treatment for them to wear at their next support retreat. They are hoping for 15 so that everyone will get one on Nov 28th.  Contact MC on FB to place your pre-order in your size and help them reach their goal!
