According to police, on Friday December 19th 2014 at approximately 9:20 PM, the Niagara Regional Police Service and the Welland Fire Department responded to a car fire at a residence on McMaster Avenue in the city’s East Side.
The fire is believed to have started in a vehicle in the driveway and spread to the nearby home. The fire was quickly extinguished resulting in damages estimated at $40 000.
The Police investigation revealed that the fire was intentionally set and is being treated as arson. Police and Fire investigators are reviewing various forms of evidence as the investigation continues.
Investigators are requesting any information pertaining to suspicious vehicles and or persons in the area of McMaster Avenue in the City of Welland on Friday December 19th 2014 between 8:30 PM and 9:15 PM.
