Environment Canada has updated the weather report for the area to include a freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
  • St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region

Freezing rain is expected to affect the regions as follows:

Southern Lake Huron to Lake Ontario: Freezing rain changing to rain early this evening. 1-3 mm ice accretion except trace over southern Toronto.

Owen Sound to Barrie: Snow at times heavy changing to freezing rain early this evening and to rain late this evening. Near 10 cm of snow then near 5 mm ice accretion.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.

Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
