At approximately 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10th, 2015 Niagara Emergency Medical Services along with Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Niagara Stone Road at Field Road in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ontario.
Initial investigation revealed that a 68-year-old male resident of Niagara-on-the-Lake was driving a 2007 Toyota motor vehicle northbound on Niagara Stone Road when the motor vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a stopped 2006 Ford Cargo Van.
The driver of the Ford cargo van was uninjured and tended to the driver of the Toyota till Emergency Services personnel arrived.
The 68-year-old male was transported by ambulance to the Niagara Health System St.Catharines Site where he was pronounced dead.
This collision remains under investigation by Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit. The Detectives are looking at the possibility that a medical event may have contributed to the collision
