On March 25th, 2015 Members of the Welland Street Crime Unit were at a Port Colborne residence for a stolen property investigation. Detectives located a male hiding in the residence that was unrelated to the investigation.  The male unsuccessfully tried to destroy a package of suspected crystal methamphetamine in the presence of police.  Quick action by officers prevented the destruction of evidence and resulted in the seizure of  $400 in suspected crystal methamphetamine and over $700 in cash.

Lawrence Maude, a 42 year old Port Colborne resident was placed under arrest and charged with; Possession of a Schedule I Substance (crystal meth) for the Purpose of Trafficking, Obstructing Justice, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained Crime Under $5000. Maude was also charged with Breaching his Probation and one count of Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.

Maude will be held in custody pending a bail hearing in St Catharines on March 26th, 2015.
