On Monday, April 27, 2015, at 4:40 pm, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to 5 Louis Ave, St. Catharines, to assist the St. Catharines Fire Dept.  with a fire at the seven floor apartment building.

Over 200 residents were required to evacuate the building, and stand by for at least six hours, until the building was safe to re-enter.

The Salvation Army, Sally Ann, and Red Cross attended to provide meals, comfort, and support to the displaced residents, and two buses from the City of St. Catharines were used as shelter. The Humane Society also attended, to assist with the pets of the residents.

Damage to the building was estimated at $200,000. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but it is not considered suspicious.
